Why we exist

The pathway to employment is the hardest that it has been in years, leaving many young people struggling to take their first step into the world of work.

Groundwork uses coffee and hospitality as a practical way forward — offering real barista training, workplace experience, and mentoring to help young adults build skills and confidence that lead to lasting employment.

“Our mission: to create routes into meaningful hospitality work for young people through barista training, mentoring and employer partnerships.”

How we work

Training with purpose

Many people see coffee as throwing any old beans into a machine and pressing a button, however specialty coffee is so much more.

Mentoring that sticks

Reece Jack, our founder, has several years in the hospitality industry both in France and the UK. After leaving the evening hospitality game behind, he moved into the specialty coffee scene. We focus on giving the tools to delivering an exceptional interaction when getting your coffee every time.

Employers that care

We partner with cafés and hospitality brands that see beyond the CV. Together, we shape training that offers real responsibility and future hiring opportunities.

Support for schools

We work with schools, colleges and youth employment charities and run on-site programmes, building bridges between education and employment for their learners.
